Roxy Girl

If the Roxy woman were an animal, she would be a bird that flies around the world as the fancy takes her and as the seasons come and go.
If the Roxy woman were a song, she would be “Life goes on”, a woman who forges ahead without worrying about the difficulties that crop up.
If the Roxy woman were a color, she would be pink, a color that reflects her audacity and femininity.
If the Roxy woman were a place, she would be an island lost in the ocean, enjoying the independence that she claims.
If the Roxy woman were an element, she would be as free as the air.
If the Roxy woman were a plant, she would be the ylang ylang: a rare flower that produces a unique essence and glows with glints of gold and saffron.

If the Roxy woman were a fruit, she would be a grapefruit which its incomparably fresh and intense taste. (link to the article Sparkling fruit))
If the Roxy woman were a sound, she would be the irrepressible laughter of a woman full of humor and vitality.
If the Roxy woman were an adverb, she would be fully, to express her lifestyle focusing on the challenges she meets every day.
If the Roxy woman were a deadly sin, she would be gluttony: a daring woman, who feasts passionately on every instant of her life.

Both in the water and out of it, she is the incarnation of grace, smoothness, style and beauty. The Californian Kassia Meador started surfing in Malibu, paradise of the longboard, at the age of 14, and quickly discovered her innate talent for nose riding and cross stepping. Her style is so pure that she makes even the trickiest moves look like child’s play. Regarded as one of the best longboarders in the history of surfing, Kassia is one of the outstanding figures of the Roxy Jam. The Oceanside surfer already has a solid record to which she would like to add a title of World Champion. 3rd in the WWLBC 2000 and 5th in 2005, Kassia finished in 5th place in the Roxy Longboard Championships in 2006.

The surfer from San Diego is one of the Roxy Team’s prestigious recruits. At 21, the 2006 runner-up world longboard champion has built up a magnificent reputation among the elite of women longboard surfers. Apart from being the youngest surfer of the Roxy Jam Biarritz 2006, Jen finished 2nd at the Noosa Festival and 4th at the Roxy Jam Cardiff last year. The girl who discovered surfing at the age of 8 with the shortboard very quickly abandoned it for the demanding art of noseriding. Out of the water, Jennifer loves skating, cycling and music. In parallel with her sports career, she is studying graphic art and design.

I never leave home without my bag! Check out my must-have items…what are yours?
Sunglasses - I love big oversized glasses. They make me feel like a star. Plenty of glamour without the paparazzi!
Keys I have a really cool key chain that I got on a Roxy trip to Hawaii. It’s my good luck charm.
Wallet – Now that I have my own car, I always have my wallet with me. And with my summer job, I’ve got some cash to put in it!
Agenda - Between surfing, work, school, the gym and meeting up with friends, I have a pretty busy schedule. My agenda keeps me organized.
Cell phone – Gotta make sure my friends can reach me…
Lip gloss – A little shine makes my face come alive. I like natural glosses with a hint of pink and some SPF! I’m in the sun a lot, so it’s important to protect my lips. I hate when they get cracked and chapped.
Face moisturizer with SPF - I always carry a travel size face moisturizer with me, and I make sure that it’s at least SPF 15. It’s so easy to get sun damage throughout the day, even if I am just driving around in my car.
Roxy perfume – A little squirt of my Roxy perfume after the gym makes me feel fresh. It’s great to splash some on right before I meet up with my friends…hey, you never know when you are going to run into your favorite crush, right?
Bronzer – I love looking like I just came from the beach, and the best way to get it without frying your face is to brush on a little bronzer!
Sharpies – I love how they write like markers. The turquoise and green are my faves because they are sea colors.
iPod – This is the mix I’m rocking right now: Feist, “1 2 3 4”; Goldfrapp, “Crystalline Green”; The Presets, “Girl and the Sea”; Block Party “Banquet”; Josh Boots, “Feel”; Timberland featuring Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, “Give It to Me”.

This 20-year-old American created a surprise by becoming the first ASP World Longboard Champion in 2006 at the Roxy Jam. The stunning Californian had a succession of perfect rounds and beat each of the favorites for the title: Kassia Meador, Claire Karabatsos and then her fellow-American Jennifer Smith in the final. Schuyler produced truly exceptional nose rides, especially in the final of the Roxy Jam, proving that she is an all-round surfer with fascinating charm and determination.
