The surfer from San Diego is one of the Roxy Team’s prestigious recruits. At 21, the 2006 runner-up world longboard champion has built up a magnificent reputation among the elite of women longboard surfers. Apart from being the youngest surfer of the Roxy Jam Biarritz 2006, Jen finished 2nd at the Noosa Festival and 4th at the Roxy Jam Cardiff last year. The girl who discovered surfing at the age of 8 with the shortboard very quickly abandoned it for the demanding art of noseriding. Out of the water, Jennifer loves skating, cycling and music. In parallel with her sports career, she is studying graphic art and design.
As you know, the Roxy Jam 2007 was held from July 11th to 16th in Biarritz!
And here are the results of this exceptional annual event…
The American Jennifer Smith emerged as world longboard champion on the sunny Basque coast, followed by the revelation of the competition, the Frenchwoman Justine Dupont, who was placed second.
And this year Jennifer got her revenge!
After coming in second place last year, Jennifer was determined to go all out and not let anyone overtake her this time.
Following a breath-taking performance and just out of the water, she was already acclaimed world champion by the enthusiastic spectators, who never let up in their support for the young champion.
A good sport, Jennifer Smith commented that her young rival was the best she could have had: “Justine Dupont is a fighter ready to take on the world and she’s got a great future ahead of herâ€.
As for Chelsea Williams (Australia), winner of the three qualifying Australian rounds for this World Championship, she shared the third step on the podium with the Hawaiian Janna Irons.
